1.   Chocolate Old Fashioned

A classic cocktail, to begin with, an old fashioned is a perfectly refreshing cocktail with a hint of bitterness and flavors. The main ingredients required to make a chocolate old fashioned are chocolate bitters (2 dashes), bourbon (2 oz), a sugar cube, and one orange twist. Add the sugar cube, chocolate bitters, and orange twist into a rocks glass and carefully muddle until the orange twist releases the flavor and oils. Now pour 2 oz of bourbon into the glass and a splash of water along with a couple of ice cubes and stir. You can garnish the drink with a cherry.

2.   Electric Avenue

Here’s another chocolate whiskey cocktail that breaks the stereotype of frothy and creamy drinks. Electric Avenue strikes the perfect balance between the spicy and smoky flavors. Ingredients required to make this cocktail are chocolate chili liqueur (1½ oz), Campari (1½ oz), peated blended scotch (2 oz). Go for legent bourbon, as it is one of the best peated blended malts. Add all the ingredients into a cocktail mixer along with some ice cubes and stir well. Once done, strain the cocktail into a coupe glass and garnish with some cacao nibs and a blood orange wheel.

3.   Spiked Hot Chocolate Irish Whiskey

Well, here’s the perfect classic creamy and frothy chocolate whiskey cocktail that serves as the ideal dessert cocktail. Whether it’s a holiday party or a cold day, the spiked hot chocolate Irish whiskey is perfect for any occasion. Ingredients needed to make this delicious chocolate cocktail are dark chocolate sauce (2 oz), Irish Whiskey (1.5 oz), apple pie spice (1 pinch), and heavy cream (3oz). Add all the ingredients mentioned above with ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and shake it for at least 30 seconds. Pour the cocktail into a whiskey glass if you prefer to serve it cold or heat for it until warm in a saucepan.

4.   Chocolate Mint Julep

A classic mint julep never gets old. The smooth taste of bourbon with crushed ice and a hint of chocolate makes the cocktail a perfectly refreshing chocolate whiskey cocktail. It is one of the cocktails that are easy to make with commonly available ingredients. All you need is bourbon (2 oz), confectioner’s sugar (1 tablespoon), chocolate mint leaves (10 leaves), club soda (enough to fill the glass), crushed ice. Add the mint leaves, sugar, and a splash of the club soda in a julep cup and muddle well. Add bourbon, crushed ice, and club soda to fill the glass.

5.   Liquid Bourbon Ball

Liquid Bourbon Ball is smooth and dry with a dash of sweetness, which makes it delicious. If that sounds like your type of drink, then go for it as it is very easy to make chocolate whiskey cocktails. The ingredients are crème de cacao (1 oz), bourbon (2 oz), and hazelnut liqueur ( ¼ oz). Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass along with some ice cubes and stir well. Once done, strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and garnish with chocolate shavings.

6.   Bourbon and Chocolate Horchata

A warm creamy and frothy chocolate whiskey cocktail that tastes delicious with a bitter taste of the coffee liqueur, dark chocolate sauce, and the smooth sweetness of bourbon makes for a perfect afternoon buddy. Firstly add horchata (2 oz), dark chocolate sauce (1 ½ tablespoon), and heavy whipping cream (1 oz) in a saucepan on medium heat. Meanwhile grab the serving glass, add bourbon (1 oz), and coffee liqueur and mix well. Pour the warm dark chocolate sauce and horchata mixture into the serving glass. Garnish with whipped cream and cocoa powder.

7.   Cherry Chocolate Bourbon Soda

The last chocolate whiskey cocktail on the list is the cherry chocolate bourbon soda. It is not only refreshing and delicious but also easy to make. The ingredients required to make this refreshing cocktail at home are cherry soda (6 oz), bourbon (1 oz), and Mexican chocolate extract (about 15 drops). Add all the ingredients and some ice cubes into a mixing glass and stir well. Serve into an old fashioned glass.

Final Thoughts

That sums up the list of seven chocolate whiskey cocktails you can make at home. Though the chocolate ingredients might make you want to indulge very often, it’s better to consume alcohol in moderation.
