Grupo Orlegi reached a mutual decision with the broadcaster TV Azteca to acquire soccer team Atlas from them. In return, the group of Azteca will receive a 33 percent share on Orlegi. This is a mutually beneficial deal that the two companies have agreed upon. They released a joint statement together to cement the deal. This decision comes on the back of Orlegi, promoting itself as a company that is focused on sports and development and simultaneously, on business development. In return for the 33 percent stake that it is offering Azteca, Orlegi will get the right to control the administration and operation and business strategy of the team. The price of the deal has not been released nor hinted at by any of the two parties concerned. All that they have said that a deal has been brokered and the exchange will take place soon.

The ownership of the club will give Orlegi the right and place to find itself in the top tier league of Mexico, the MX Liga. From there, the company plans to expand further and reach a height of prominence in the North American market. This is just one of the many acquisitions that the company has decided to make in the quest for growth. Many critics would say that the move is one that is well thought of. Mexico is a growing market and by finding a foothold in the region, the company will not only get the boost in popularity that it needs but also the experience that it mandatory for it to step up in the business world. The company Azteca will in return of its control of Atlas, benefit from the growth of Orlegi as it is now a shareholder in the company and is major one at that.

This is not the first step that Orlegi has taken in the sports world; it also runs the operations and has the control of other clubs. But Atlas is by far its biggest haul in the recent times. It will benefit greatly from the exposure that the brand will receive from the purchase. The deal seems to be stable between the two of them and is not expected fall off or breakdown in course of further discussions. After that has been achieved, they are expected to follow through with the helping of each other in growing beyond the regional market.

Neither of the two business houses has mentioned a price on the deal, it is expected that the price was quite high and would be completed in the course of the coming years. As both of them have had something to win from this standing, it cannot be said that either of them were at a loss for the stake that they got. They were able to secure what they wanted, Orlegi got eh foothold in top tier Mexican soccer league while Azteca got a solid presence in the Orlegi which will grow further as a company.
